Why swing rules need written criteria — and how vague structure language creates false confidence.
Most people say “higher high” as if the chart will agree. Without a rule for which wick counts, which close confirms, and how far a pullback may travel, the phrase becomes decoration.
In our labs we force a written definition before markup begins. Participants often discover they were using three silent versions of the same term. Aligning the room on one rule set is usually enough to quiet half the debate.
Try this before your next session: write the exact conditions for a valid swing high on your working timeframe. Then mark ten bars without changing the rule midstream. The discomfort is the lesson.
